Call to Action

Around the world there are real Dollhouses. They don’t look as nice, and the people inside aren’t as well fed, comfortable or cared for, but there are Dollhouses everywhere. You can go in and order almost anyone you want – for the right price.
Like the Dollhouse on TV not everyone knows that they exist. But they do. You see them on the news every now and then, when the police want to make a statement, or enough of the ‘dolls’ die that there are bodies to trace.
However the people inside don’t get wiped, or proper medical treatment. They have every memory, every scar. There are some similarities though: they all have a family, somewhere, who wonders what happened to them, and the few that sign up for it had no idea what they were agreeing to.
You watch Dollhouse, CSI, Cold Case, The Bill, or any other crime show and you think it’s not happening near you, but of course it is. In Australia, although we have far less human trafficking than many other places in the world (thanks to not sharing a border with another country), the number of human trafficking cases reported to the Australian Federal Police in 2008 was almost 3000% higher than in 2001.
But you can help others succeed where Agent Ballard failed by either becoming a cop and spending years to try and bring these folks down, or you can simply donate to Equality Now or Amnesty International, or buy some cool unofficial Dollhouse merch and support Equality Now. But, whatever you do, do something! Be your best!
