Frequently Asked Questions

What is this Dollhouse?

Dollhouse is a television series created by Joss Whedon and starring Eliza Dushku. It is a show about the components of identity, and an exploration of the interactions between thought, emotion, and spirit. It's about self-discovery and the small matter of ending civilization.

So is this a site about a TV show?

No. While the site was inspired by the TV series Dollhouse, it is in fact about the very real issues of human trafficking, poverty, oppression against women and children, the loss of self, and the negation of human rights. These are all issues that Dollhouse touches upon and as its audience, we have been compelled to attract greater attention to these very real monsters and find ways to combat them here and now.

What can a bunch of fans really do about this?

Change the world? It might seem far-fetched, but we will never know how far we can get unless we try. The goal of Not a Doll is threefold: to inspire, to raise funds, and to organize. If you would like to contribute writings or art, we would be thrilled to have your help. If you would like to help immediately, donate to Equality Now or purchase something from our store. (All store proceeds are donated to Equality Now as well.) And if you wish to keep in touch, contact us so we can add you to our mailing list.

Who is behind this?

Not a Doll is a venue for fans of Dollhouse and Joss Whedon's work in general to make a difference and apply their skills to something greater than the love of a good story. We are not affiliated with Mutant Enemy, Fox Networks, or 20th Century Fox. We want people from all over the world to one day be able to enjoy the stories we do, but know that in order for this to happen they must first become healthy, literate, and free.
